About Me

Eric here! Nice to see you!

I have worked in the LED lighting industry for many years. My love with electronics and the fascination of how things worked was kicked started at a young age when my older brother would sit down with me and draw out how complex technologies worked. These included the power grid, telephone systems & CRT TVs. My love for electronics and building things was powerful and you could often find me drawing schematics with Crayola crayons or playing with Legos & K’nex. I was always analyzing & taking apart as many gadgets as I could get my hands on.

I have had a special love for light and color since before I knew what light and color was. As my late mother recalled, I would use the phrase “Ooh pwetty lights mama… Pweetty liiights…” frequently as a child. I describe this love as an adult who never grew out of that joy when a child sees a shiny colorful light that they just stare at. The screen cap below of World of Color at Disneyland’s California Adventure perfectly illustrates this wonder.

Born in southern Mississippi and now based out of Salt Lake City Utah, I have been DJing church youth and young adult dances and wedding receptions for the past 13 years. I specialize in church region dances, stake dances and Young Single Adult dances. I specialize in the lighting aspects of events and have a plethora of equipment at my disposal. With over 30 moving heads, various light fixtures and custom built equipment, I can kick up the energy and make every event unique and awesome!

Alongside event lighting, I have found joy in creating my own Christmas and Halloween animated light displays and have been doing them since 2010. I have worked alongside several commercial Christmas light shows in the area. I specialize in DIY & open source equipment for my holiday displays and use some of that technology to improve my event lighting. The line between “DIY” and “professional” lighting equipment is blurring more and more every day.

Some of the permanent installations I have been involved with include:

  • Initial testing of the Geneva Megaplex video tower.
  • Programming the Geneva Megaplex front “MEGAPLEX” letters.
  • Programming the Geneva Megaplex interior bubble wall.
  • Programming the Jordan Commons Megaplex “RIALTO” interior sign.
  • Programming the Cottonwood Luxury Megaplex outdoor sign.
  • Assembly & programming of the ABC4 Utah Weather Ball.
  • Christmas in Color, South Jordan Equestrian Center.
  • North Pole Festival at Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy.
  • Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point, Lehi.
  • La Petite Maison Antiques Christmas display, Draper.
  • Many florescent to LED replacements in signage for businesses all over the area.
  • And thousands of LED landscape light bars sold all over the country.

Lighting is my life! What more can I say?
